In his 14 years of existence, the Folk International Festival Plasencia has been consolidated little by little like the musical and cultural modality with more projection of Extremadura, turning this way into not alone awaited event for the inhabitants of the city and his summer visitors if not for others assiduous to the musical programmings that during the summer take place in multitude of cities.

The numbers are a test of it as for the number of assistants in the last editions coming to 20.000 persons during three days of programming, which at present they give themselves appointment in the Tower It was shining, listening, dancing or simply enjoying the spectacle of a few musicians astonished and pleased with the public's success of which this festival makes a show.

The festival, which now is celebrated in the penultimate week of August, was born in a humble way but with excellent groups in his first editions, who made enjoy big names in an area where there were no concerts of this type of music. Gwendal, Carlos Núñez, Weak Jiménez and Oskorri were the protagonists of the first edition. The Biggest Square was remaining pleased and surprised with the proposal of this festival.
